Basic
course/workshop
The aim of this course is to learn the techniques
to make three-dimensional pages. Every session includes both a theoric part
about the history and the typology of the chosen book and a practical one to
learn its peculiar paper engineering techniques. During the training course
multidisciplinary information will be given to establish relations between the
subject of the training course and the school subjects.
Advanced
course
From the skills acquired in the basic workshop,
more complex techniques are introduced following the historical evolution of
this type of book and their realization will be introduced, if possible, in
order to create new three-dimensional solutions.
Moreover, it is shown how a book is projected and which graphic and technical
rules need to be respected to realize a book that can become a publishing
product too.
Pop-up
book projecting course
During the workshop, several dummies are created
about general topics (i.e. traditional fairy tales like "Little Red Riding
Hood" and "The Three Little Pigs"; scientific subjects like
"The Weather" and "The Senses"; stories of various narrative
types). The participants will be divided into groups and always directed by one
of our cultural workers. Every group makes a dummy of a pop-up book, which is
different for every session, learning to use and to harmonize the known
techniques in order to illustrate a text with three-dimensional images.
